Description of Paper:

Looking to Europe, but also elsewhere, we have different kind of services that we find in vehicles. Tachographs, EOBRs, Tolling OBUs, Fleet Management, Stolen Vehcile Tracking, Speed limiters, Download devices,...Thise services differ in scope, users, requirements and interest groups.The different sercices require different on board units / in vehicle units to enable them. This leads to increased occupation of space in the vehicles, but more important, also to a destraction of the driver as he has to handle and monitor different devices which all take his attention and time.The paper will summarize the different services classify in mandatory and volunteer ones and define the requirements for an in vehicle device which would be able to cover all services with one OBU.One OBU, one contract, a wide range of services.
