Description of Paper:

In the autumn of 2009, Car navigation system corresponding ITS Spot were released in Japan by private companies, bringing road traffic information and safe driving support services. ITS Spots offer two-way communication, and can thus be used as probe systems to collect information about the locations of vehicles. This paper outlines probe data collection systems using ITS Spots, and application of the gathered data for road traffic management.
